Thanks by Sarah

Thanks

A mud-splattered ball lies in a brown soggy field,
Left, alone.
A pair of shod feet, step out of a car,
Left, alone.
A fierce, squat building stands grumpy, the home of flight,
Left, alone.
The same pair of feet makes their own curvy way to the outstretched bird,
Left, alone.
With a roar that shakes the ground, it leaps into the air,
Left, alone.
Minute upon minute, and onward flies this strange winged creature,
Left, alone.
Till the hours are stacked like building blocks, only then, shall its wings be put to rest,
Left, alone.
Feet walk quickly down the stairs, pattering endlessly on,
Left, alone.
A wallaby hops alongside a road, ears twitching inquisitively,
Left, alone.
And a car drives onward, swallowed by darkness,
Left, alone.
Till light blazes down and dawn streaks the sky, blackness shall reign,
Left, alone.
Then two girls step out, upon sprightly green grass,
Found, together.
And solemnly wish another, older pair, their gratitude beyond any compare,
Found, together.
And together they step forward to embrace with words of farewell,
Found, together.
